‘Flemish Souvenirs’ was made in (2022) during an Erasmus programme in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. The specific course was titled ‘InSitu2’, a study of installation art, asking questions around site-specificity and situated practices.
The work made during Aindriú’s studies here reflected the time spent in itself, the nature of my memories and experiences created in the city of Antwerp. There are a combination of materials used here, ceramics, textiles, drawing, photography, found objects and found imagery. Just like memories, each object holds craftsmanship (or lack thereof) in importance. The contrast in time spent in the creation of the differents of the objects is illustrated aesthetically in the contrast of materials.
