The residency at ‘the Brown Mountain Diamond took place across a month in the deep rural of Co.Kilkenny, Ireland. The location was the main subject of the work, Aindriú, along with two other artists (Bill Harris and Holly Ní Faoláin) explored the location, using found material, sound and local folklore as their medium.
The piece in this image is a dulcimer which the artist made from a cattle feeder (found on site). Each pick-up on the instrument was hand-made and then strung using metre lengths of dulcimer string. Follow the link to see the instrument performed and amplified using a hand made contact microphone
